St Andrews International School, Green Valley — British + IB · Pattaya/Rayong border · Ages 2-18 · Eco-Literate
Founded in 1996 — one of Thailand's longest-established international schools, now in its 25th+ year. Set within the Green Valley Country Club between Pattaya and Rayong (Ban Chang side), the campus is genuinely rural — forest school, specialist gardens, eco-curriculum. Around 450 students from 35 nationalities. Head: Charles Grayhurst. Part of the Cognita network (100+ schools globally). Awarded the Green Flag for environmental education — one of the few in Thailand. The only school on the Eastern Seaboard with a Dutch stream from Reception through Secondary.
Why it's on The List
St Andrews offers something genuinely distinctive in a market full of British-curriculum lookalikes: an eco-literate, place-based education with forest school and outdoor learning baked into the curriculum, plus the IB Primary Years Programme integrated with the English National Curriculum (the only PYP school in the region). 2025 IB results landed at a 95% pass rate with a top score of 42 and an average of 34 — well above the global average. 95% of graduates attend their best-fit university. The Dutch stream is unique in the region — significant for Dutch families relocating to Eastern Seaboard. Smaller community than Regents or Rugby (450 vs 1,100+) means closer attention but fewer peers per year group. Honest balance: the campus is on the Pattaya/Rayong border in Ban Chang — the school run from central Pattaya is 30+ minutes, longer than Regents (Pong) or Hastin (Pong). Smaller cohort means less depth of subject choice at A-Level/IB compared to Regents. Facilities are excellent for the school size but won't match Rugby's 80-acre flagship campus.
What parents and graduates say
"My teachers didn't just guide me on academics; they helped me develop crucial skills, like public speaking and presentation. Green Valley shaped my path to success and helped me get to where I am now — pursuing a PhD at Caltech." — Pierre Walker, 2017 Graduate (Caltech PhD candidate)
"As a family we couldn't ask for more from a school. Our children are receiving a first class International education in beautiful surroundings." — Emma Dusting (parent)
